[Moblog] Improvization

We are fully packed (325 boxes/crates/cartons later) and ready for the driver to load our household goods tomorrow. However, we forgot to leave out a corkscrew.....

No worries. A 1/4" drill bit and cordless drill is practically the *same* thing. Just a little bit messier....

Kudos to K-ville friend Desiree for the FABULOUS Masciarelli, which we are enjoying with dear friends from Virginia who drove 550 miles to surprise Shelby before we leave on Monday. Video coming soon....

I tend to have multiple corkscrews scattered about in unlikely places, like the glove compartment of the car. Occupational hazard I suppose.

My question is what you would have done without the drill? I've always heard that if you lack any sort of tools the best method is to clean the top of the cork (to avoid contamination) and then force it into the bottle, then decant (the cork will float to whatever end of the bottle is up).

Obviously you end up having to drink the whole bottle...

You don't have a corkscrew on your ever-present multi-tool? Good use of the Dewalt, BroIL!

ARH, I thought we did too - checked the shaving kit, laptop bag & glove compartment. No joy (probably due to TSA's asinine fear of small metal objects :-).

BroIL, The Gerber would have been a help. Though it is 1200 miles away in the Subaru (since I flew home w/o checked bags, I know TSA @ DEN would not have been pleased if I attempted to board my flight carrying it....
