Party Like It's 1234567890

The moment is almost here. Around the world, Unix geeks and coder nerds are gathering to celebrate Unix "epoch time" reaching 1234567890 -- an event that will occur in about three hours (3:31:30pm PST, 6:31:30pm EST).

What does this mean? It means that, since January 1st 1970 (the "start" of Unix epoch time), the number of seconds that have elapsed (not counting the occasional "leap second") will be 1 billion, 234 million, 567 thousand, 890. Or 1,234,567,890. To Unix systems (who could care less about digital representations of time) it will be 1234567890.

Party on!
